Rope Access Safety Training

SPRAT Level I Rope Access Technician Training

Build the hands-on skills, safety knowledge, and confidence to prepare for your SPRAT Level I technician evaluation.

SPRAT Training Overview

Rope access gives crews a safe, efficient way to reach the hardest-to-reach parts of a job — when it’s planned and performed by properly trained technicians. Expert Safety Services’ SPRAT Level I course builds that foundation from the ground up: systems, equipment, movement, and rescue skills, all trained through hands-on practice designed to prepare students for the independent SPRAT written and performance evaluations.

Instruction is led by ESS’s team of experienced rope access instructors, within the training programs Michael Draper, owner of Expert Safety Services, oversees across the organization.

Key Elements of SPRAT Level I Training

  • Rope Access Principles – Understand hazard awareness and a technician’s role on a supervised team.
  • Equipment Mastery – Selection, compatibility, inspection, care, and pre-use checks.
  • Knots, Anchors & Rigging – Build the fundamentals every rope access system depends on.
  • Ascent, Descent & Changeovers – Move confidently and correctly on the rope.
  • Hauling, Lowering & Rescue – Train the Level I rescue and hauling skills you’ll be evaluated on.
  • Evaluation Readiness – Walk into your written and performance tests fully prepared.
